Smallbrook Stadium is to host the Vince Mapley Memorial Trophy speedway match in just 2 weeks time and it is sure to be a hotly contested affair with Warriors past and present taking part.
Last year’s winner James Cockle must be one of the favourites both on and off the track for the event that remembers Vince Mapley, who was part of the team that successfully returned speedway racing to the Isle of Wight.
The meeting takes place on Thursday 13th April. Tapes up at 19:00.
Wightlink Warriors’ Team Boss Jackie Vatcher said:
“We have put together an entertaining line-up for the season opener that will excite the crowd so we can continue where we left off in 2016, plus enable all the Wightlink Warriors to really get stuck in and ready for league racing.
“With all the 2017 Warriors on display, we are thrilled to welcome back Joe Jacobs and Nathan Stoneman who were both extremely popular last year, plus selected riders that helped the club with guest bookings. It’s an exciting time as we all know our situation with number 7 and this meeting, along with press and practice, will be an ideal opportunity for riders to come and claim a team place in the National League.”
