Ventnor Rugby Club concluded their 2024-2025 season with an awards ceremony at Watcombe.
The event recognised outstanding performances across the club’s teams and celebrated the efforts of players, supporters and volunteers.
The ceremony saw a series of awards presented to players who excelled during the season. For the 1st XV, Ben Souter was named Player of the Year, with Jack Gilbey taking the Most Improved Player award. Jason Coltham earned the Try of the Season accolade, while Lewis ‘Jewy’ Jones was chosen as Supporters’ Player of the Year.
In the 2nd XV, Tom Smith was awarded Player of the Year, with Sean Frampton recognised as the Most Improved Player. The Tries of the Season were shared by Olly Wood and Harry Ottley. The John Adams Young Player of the Year award went to Dan Lythgoe, with the Coaches Player of the Year title given to Iain Reeves. Clubman of the Year was awarded to Clive Cardwell-Hill.

Thanks were extended to all who contributed to the event’s success. Dan Lythgoe and Chris ‘Tangled’ Cardwell-Hill were praised for preparing around 80 breakfasts, while Bradders and Molly were acknowledged for their bar work. Warren Riches received thanks for his role as Master of Ceremonies and for conducting the auction, with Ben Cooper and Tommo Engelgardt recognised for managing the raffle.
Support from Howden Insurance, The Smoking Lobster, The Bistro in Ventnor, The Two Cooks in Ventnor, Tim Davis and Helen Browning Organic Online was acknowledged for providing raffle prizes. Chris Skelley was thanked for an excellent barbecue, and Jack Rushton for keeping the shots flowing.
Special appreciation was given to Richard Johnson and Sam Frampton of Howden Insurance in Newport for attending and for their ongoing support throughout the season.
