A 26-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply after Police stopped a car on the outskirts of Ryde last night (Wednesday).
The silver Nissan Micra was stopped on Ashey Road, close to Smallbrook Roundabout, at 22:08.
Officers conducted a search of the vehicle which led to the man and woman, both from Shanklin, being arrested.
The 26-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
Both remain in custody at this time.

Lock them up and throw away the key.
Thank you to our police for getting drugs and drug driving off our streets ,well done guys
Until much tougher sentences are made it won’t be long before they’re back on the street again. It’ll be interesting what punishment is handed to them.
Business must bad during pandemic, drug dealing in a Nissan mirca
Probably a reasonable defence, Micra ? Drug dealers car of choice is Audi LOL
Unfortunately not. Business for those praying on our vulnerable and gullable young appears to be as strong as ever.
Walking through Freshwater, I can still smell the pungent weed everywhere.
Perhaps the Micra was selected as an innocent looker..
It only takes one report from a conscience pricked person to bring in another supplier.
So please do the right thing – friends, relatives, neighbours…
Absolutely. To everyone out there on the island, if you know drug dealers and they are actively selling this rubbish, inform the police. You can dial 101 and you don’t have to give your name if you don’t want to. Just don’t let these dirty drug dealers get away with selling this sh*t. Well done to island Police, good stop.
Well done!!!!!!!
Well done!
Keep up the good work.
well done keep up the good work
Nicely done to the police
Shanklin scum AGAIN
Well done to our police, keep cleaning the swamp, we don’t want this filth on our streets…
We passed this last night did wonder why there were so many police for 1 car but good job guys
All you drug pushers out there, your time is up, you WILL get caught. Many people on the island will know who you are and what you’re selling……. it’s just matter of time. Dirty filthy drugs ruin lives.
Same in Ryde. I saw three kids from my child’s class (which means that are 12) smoking weed , sat in a public place . Get the top dogs and do it soon please
Not really a good stop no class A seized just a plant i think the island police are incompetent they should get there act together and get the bigger fish
A drop in the ocean. All those of you thinking this will help or is another nail in the coffin are deluded. I lived on the island 35 years ago in my early 20s and weed was everywhere. Nothing has changed. The punishment is not severe enough so there is no disincentive to largely stupid people who squandered their education and now have no other source of income. I have a family of dealers on my street where I live now. Back in the summer there was a drugs bust they took away loads of staff and the woman involved the next morning on bail, she was back literally on her bike 6:30 in the morning taking stuff to her customers.
