A Sandown man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods as he got off the Wightlink car ferry in Fishbourne at the weekend.
It was at around 14:30 on Sunday afternoon (2nd February) that officers swooped on a vehicle at the ferry terminal off Fishbourne Lane.
A male was detained at the roadside whilst a search of his vehicle was carried out, in front of the hundreds of people arriving and departing from one of the Island’s busiest ports.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a 47-year-old man from Sandown was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
He was taken into custody at Newport Police Station for questioning but has since been released on bail.
He is due back at the Police Station in May.
