Residents and staff at Vecta House nursing home in Newport enjoyed an afternoon performance from a local primary school recently.
Children from Summerfield’s School performed a selection of Harvest Festival songs and poems.
The Activities Coordinator at Vecta House had met with The Head Teacher of Summerfields Primary, Melanie Gartell, earlier in the month to discuss joining the children and residents together for events and activities. Both are very eager to work together furthermore in the near future.
The hospitality team at the home provided refreshments for the children to enjoy after their performance.
Tanya Everson, Activities Coordinator said:
“It has been a great pleasure working with the staff and children of Sumerfields Primary, having an opportunity to join together with the children is of real importance to our residents. The smiles and joy the childrens singing brought to our residents was wonderful to see.”
After the children had visited residents spent the afternoon telling their family all about the performance as well as reminiscing about their childhood times.
