VIDEO: VANDAL CAUGHT ON CCTV SMASHING WINDOWS OF POPULAR SANDOWN SEAFRONT EATERY

A mindless vandal has been caught on camera throwing large stones at the windows of a popular Sandown seafront restaurant – smashing 3 large panes of glass in the process.

The shocking footage captured by CCTV at The Bandstand on Culver Parade shows a solo man make his way down towards the restaurant on the opposite side of the road, before throwing 3 large rocks at the large sliding windows. He then crosses the road, picks up one of the rocks that has already been thrown and proceeds to throw it once more, causing damage to a third window.

Bandstand owner, Paul, was alerted to the damage at shortly after 06:00 this morning (Thursday), with camera footage showing that the incident took place at around 04:08.

Shockingly, the man seen throwing the stones appears to be recording the incident on his own mobile phone.

The incident has been a needless setback for the small business with the damage costing over £2000 to repair.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said:

“We were called at 8.38 yesterday morning (Thursday 22 July) to a report that some windows had been damaged between 04:05 and 04:10 at The Bandstand Restaurant on Culver Parade.

FFS…..mindless idiot. Cut his hands off then make him pay for the damage he has caused. Why would anyone do this. Any sane normal person wouldn’t. So disrespectful. This is the type of scum we now have in our society.

Seems more like a revenge attack to me. Perhaps an ex employee, or someone the owner has angered. For what vandal would be up so early and target just one place.

More to this i wager than just another ‘mindless’ vandal. A man on a mission I suggest.

Doesn’t look like a random piece of stupidity to me. Given the time, 4 o’clock in the morning, and the fact it looks like a deliberate, premeditated act of vandalism, my money would be on a disgruntled ex-employee or someone one of the owners has maybe pee’d off at some time or another? Could be completely wrong, but it doesn’t look random to me.

So are you advocating vandalism every time an employee is fired, or someone gets pee’d off then Catherine?
Either way, normal, civilised people do not act in this way.

Spot on Cath, my thoughts too. WE should be on the Police payroll, but likely would be too good to stay on the Isle and would be head hunted by the mainland in special branch or MI5

The question is – who would invest their money and time in a business when your face the risk of this.

When oh when can we expect the lawlessness on our streets to be tackled – Donna Jones???

does a business need to take the law into their own hands, with shutters and guard dogs, in order to fend off these criminals

Maybe they shouldn’t have removed the shelter that gave us kids a please to go in bad weather just to make another over price restaurant on the island and bore the kids.

Guessing it’s late at night (restaurant closed) and he was unsteady on his feet, he will more than likely have been in the local bars. Check the bars cctv’s and ask bar staff if they know him. Mindless stupidity.
