A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving following a crash in Lake last night (Wednesday).
As first reported by Island Echo, emergency services were mobilised to Newport Road at just before 19:00 to reports of a collision involving a car and a van.
Officers arrived on scene – alongside paramedics and firefighters – to find an electric Peugeot Q2008 with significant front damage, and a damaged Peugeot Partner van.
The crash occurred at the junction with Alfred Road.
Although clear on the breathalyser, the driver of the white van, from Shanklin, tested positive at the roadside for drugs.
He was arrested and taken into custody for evidential bloods to be taken.
The 38-year-old has since been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

Until druggies are banged up, our roads will
never be safe.
Such individuals should not be allowed on our Roads,
they are putting other peoples lives at risk.
Bang him up, and throw away the key.
