A van and a small hatchback car have collided in Brading tonight (Thursday).
The incident has occurred on a long bend on The Mall, Brading between Yarbridge and Bully’s Hill.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are in attendance and are checking over those involved.
No one is thought to have sustained serious injuries in the smash, which has occurred on a dark and wet night.
The road is currently blocked in both directions and will remain so until both vehicles – a white Vauxhall van and a Skoda Citigo – are recovered.
Police are not yet on scene.
UPDATE – Luckily, no one has been injured in the crash. The ambulance service have been released with no need to convey casualties.
The road will re-open once recovery has been completed.

Carelessness! I’m sure one of the two drivers here is at fault. Look how wide the road is in the picture, plenty of space to pass each other, so not sure why they needed to collide. Maybe that tree jumped out again and evasive action was needed to avoid it…. The weather is, and has been terrible tonight. Common sense would say slow down and take extra care in wet weather and poor visibility… I’ve always believed common sense is quite useful, and should be used more widely…. 🙂
Agree, but unfortunately, some drivers do not adjust their driving and speed to the weather conditions. Some drivers don’t have any skills at all and common sense….. What’s that!!!!

We all know how aggressive van drivers are, they bully other drivers all the time, and they need to stop.
Its obvious from photo that cutting the corner in any vehicle will result in this type of accident!
It happens as people dont keep in their lane!

If they can get it up to a nice, regular three-a-day then that will be a thousand less cars on the road each year which should make it a bit safer for those of you who drive more carefully. Just mind my motorised bath-chair as you go past.
It would seem that sticking to your own lane is overrated on the Isle of Wight…
Check that your tyres have the legal amount of tread, and a bit more.
The trouble is that car drivers cut corners and don’t stay in there lane on this island
