Residents from 2 Newport-based care home celebrated Valentine’s Day last week (14th February).
Love was in the air at Orchard House Care Home as residents celebrated Valentine’s Day with a mix of fun, creativity, and live entertainment.
The day began with an energizing chair exercise session, followed by a delightful cupcake decorating activity, where residents added their own creative touch using a variety of sweet toppings. The activity brought smiles and laughter, making it a perfect start to the celebrations.
In the afternoon, residents were serenaded by Simon from Music for Care, a talented performer whose heartfelt singing created a warm and festive Valentine’s atmosphere. His performance was the highlight of the day, spreading joy and love throughout the home.
Lewis Pavey, activities coordinator, has said:
“It’s so important to celebrate occasions like Valentine’s Day.
“Today was all about bringing our residents together, creating happy moments, and making them feel special.”

Love was truly in the air today as Vecta House Care Home in Newport celebrated Valentine’s Day with a very special dining experience for their residents, their families, and friends. It was a day filled with warmth, laughter, and the joy of togetherness, creating memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
Vecta House incredible chefs, Gary and Chris, outdid themselves with a truly delectable menu. From the comforting warmth of pepper and lentil soup to the classic elegance of egg and prawn cocktail, the starters were a perfect prelude to the main course.
Guests then had the choice of the romantically named “Marry Me Chicken” or the delicate flavours of salmon en-croute. And for a sweet ending? Indulgent hot chocolate brownies served with creamy ice cream – pure bliss! Every dish was crafted with love and attention, making the meal truly unforgettable.
To set the perfect romantic ambiance, residents and guests were serenaded by the incredibly talented Merlynna, who played beautiful music on the harp. Her enchanting melodies filled the dining room, creating a magical atmosphere that enhanced the entire experience.
Each resident had the opportunity to enjoy this Valentine’s feast, with tables beautifully decorated and dressed for the occasion. The room was filled with smiles, heartfelt conversations, and the unmistakable feeling of love.
