Police were called to an address in Newport when a man was found unconscious with serious head and facial injuries late last night (Friday).
Officers were alerted by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service to reports of an assault at a property on Chapel Street at just before 22:00.
On arrival, a 42-year-old man was located in an unconscious state having sustained serious head and facial injuries. He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment, but thankfully his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
A 41-year-old man from Newport has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
He remains in custody for questioning at Newport Police Station at this time.
The incident came just hours after another assault in Ryde, as reported by Island Echo.
