UPDATED: Emergency services are attending a road traffic collision on Trafalgar Road in Newport this evening (Wednesday).
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and Police are all on scene in the town, where it is understood a car and a pick-up have collided near the junction with West Street.
One vehicle has gone into a wall resulting in debris and diesel being spread across the carriageway.
Two fire appliances from Newport Fire Station are in attendance.
Motorists should avoid the area.
UPDATE @ 17:51 -No one has been seriously injured in the collision, which has resulted in the closure of Trafalgar Road. Traffic is being diverted locally.
One person has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital.
Ambulance and fire crews have left the scene, however Island Roads are now attending.
UPDATE @ 18:40 – Trafalgar Road has reopened in both directions.
The pick-up has been recovered by D H Price motors
Earlier this afternoon emergency crews were called to The Downs at the junction with Newport Road when two cars collided. The vehicles were recovered by Barletts Service Station by 16:30.
