Bembridge RNLI came to the aid of a trimaran on the outskirts of Bembridge Harbour this afternoon (Monday), the third shout in as many days for the volunteer lifeboat crew.
Solent Coastguard requested the launch of Bembridge’s Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) ‘Norman Harvey’ at around 17:14 to assist a 20ft trimaran anchored to the east of Bembridge Groyne with 2 crew on board, who were unable to get their anchor up.
A member of the lifeboat crew was transferred to the trimaran and the anchor was then able to be pulled free. A tow was set up and the trimaran was taken into Bembridge Harbour and handed over to the harbour staff.
The ILB returned to the station and was recovered by 18:00.
On Saturday, Bembridge ILB assisted a broken down speedboat into Bembridge Harbour, whilst the All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) yesterday (Sunday) went to the aid of a yacht crossing the Channel.
