WightTricks recently hosted the second Flip The Island Gathering (FTIG) – this year titled ‘Zero Limits’ – bringing together elite trickers from across the globe for 2 days of battles, showcases and specialist seminars.
Held on 5th-6th July, the event saw a significant increase in attendance and participation compared to its inaugural year, attracting athletes, coaches and spectators from Japan, America, Austria, Finland, Sweden, Scotland and right across the UK.
For those unfamiliar, tricking is a high-energy blend of martial arts, gymnastics, breakdancing and freestyle movement – a sport where creativity meets athleticism.
The Flip The Island Gathering has quickly become a key event on the international tricking calendar, offering a platform for newcomers, returners, and professionals alike to push the boundaries of movement and performance.
Guest judges and mentors included global names such as Will Coneys (USA), Rees Beardshaw (UK) and Noah Petek (Austria), who also delivered seminars to share insights from their years at the top of the sport.
From its origins as a local club to an internationally recognised event, FTIG continues to grow year-on-year. Despite the calibre of athletes attending, organisers say the heart of FTIG remains in its community values – offering opportunities for all levels, from first-timers to world-class competitors.
