Strong winds and heavy rain is causing disruption to cross-Solent travel this morning (Monday) and has left hundreds of homes without power.
Hovertravel have been forced to suspend their Ryde-Southsea service due to the adverse weather. Alternative travel arrangements on Wightlink’s Ryde-Portsmouth Fastcat are in place.
The operator says that next update will be at 07:15 – but it is highly unlikely that services will resume at that time.
Meanwhile, hundreds of properties are without power as a result of an overnight fault. Homes and businesses in the PO30 3 region lost supply at around 01:55 this morning.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks says it is aware of the outage and engineers are working to have power restored by 12:00.
UPDATE @ 09:00 – Hovertravel are to resume services from 09:15.
On the roads, Firestone Copse Road between Havenstreet and Wootton has been blocked by a fallen tree. Motorist should divert locally.
