A set of traffic lights at a busy junction in Newport have been damaged overnight following a road traffic collision.
Police were called to Gunville Road at the junction with Forest Road at around 05:00 this morning (Sunday) after a car collided with a traffic light pole, causing significant damage.
The occupants of the vehicle are thought to have made off from the scene, prompting a search.
Temporary traffic lights have now been erected whilst repairs are undertaken, however it is unknown how long the temporary solution will be in place.
The incident follows another road traffic collision on nearby Middle Road last night (Saturday) in which a vehicle left the carriageway and came to rest in a field near the Blacksmith Arms.
No one has been seriously injured in either collision.
