A tourist visiting the Island from Aldershot was airlifted to Salisbury Hospital on Saturday afternoon after suffering a suspected dislocated hip.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service was called to Compton Beach off Military Road at shortly before 16:00 after a woman in her 50s fell on the sand, sustaining a suspected a dislocated hip.
The assistance of The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team was requested by paramedics, who later called in the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance to airlift the casualty from the beach to Salisbury District Hospital.
The incident was brought to a close by 17:40.
