A rise in the number of claimants is expected through the winter months, with 162 more people out of work than in November. However, year-on-year there has been a fall of some 1,110 claimants.
The figures mean that the Isle of Wight has a total of 2.4% of the working age population (16-64) claiming the jobseeking benefit, 0.5% higher than the rest of the country.
