VIDEO: Designer brand Timberland decided to highlight the beauty and relaxing side of the Isle of Wight in its latest online advertising campaign ‘One bag – two days’ campaign.
Former ITV Meridian journalist, Dave Russell, who runs Wight Media Services, hosted a film crew of eight from Barcelona over two days in West Wight last month.
The video highlights a ‘get away’ journey by London resident and TV presenter, Rick Edwards, down to Yarmouth by train. Rick is seen in a number of locations including The George in Yarmouth, riding his pushbike along Military Road, a boat trip to the Needles and a cable car ride down Alum Bay.
Wight Media Services have hosted a number of crews in the past few years including H&M clothing, The Italian TV version of ‘Top Gear’ and Allie McBeal star, Calista Flockhart in a horror movie called ‘Fragile’
Dave says:
“Having the ability to bring film crews over can really raise the profile of the Island. A recent report by Film London concluded that when any filming locations used are mentioned on social media it amounted to thousands of pounds of paid-for advertising. Ultimately this acts as a free ‘tourism driver’ to any area that promotes itself for TV and film.”
