Thousands of homes and businesses are without power this afternoon (Thursday) owing to a major power cut in the South Wight.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks is recording that 2,262 properties have been affected by the outage, across 223 different postcodes.
Towns and villages hit include Ventnor, Bonchurch, St Lawrence, Niton, Whitwell and Chale.
The fault occurred just before 14:15.
Currently, engineers estimate that power will be restored by 17:00 this afternoon.
UPDATE @ 15:06 – The number of properties affected is slowly reducing, with 2,059 addresses without power across 202 postcodes.
