5 teens have been released from custody after an early hours police chase ended in a crash at the weekend.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the teenagers were arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning (22nd February) after a police pursuit led to the inexperienced driver loosing control and crashing their car causing Island Roads to close a portion of the footpath up the hill.
It was shortly before 01:30 that the teens were seen by officers driving in an erratic manner along The Fairway in Sandown. It was then that officers made attempts to stop the car. However, the teen driver failed to comply and it was then that the police pursuit began.
Officers involved in the chase were soon stood down as they came across the vehicle ploughed into a wall and a parked car outside a residential property at the bottom of the hill.
Police have now confirmed that 2 of the teenagers, aged 16 and 17 have been released on bail until 22nd May whilst the other detainees, 2 aged 16 and a 15-year-old have been released under investigation.

More feral low life scum that won’t work all on benefits won’t pay for any damage caused get bugger all done to them..
Abolish theirs and their parents benefits
Simple
I know of parents that are loaded whose kids drive whilst under the influence of drugs, get caught do it again, no accountability thanks to the law and parents, don’t assume rich people bring their kids up well
That is very true, the wealthy buy their way out of
trouble or have friends in the right places.
We live in a 2 tier unfair society.
I half know all the people involved and they are all middle class and lower class none of them are rich at all
Of course they won’t, and the shits know it. Some poor sods car written off that he probably needs to get to work with. You are better of being low life scum these days, never need to work and everything for free
You’re right there, it does make you think whether it’s worth working for a living when others live of the state and get everything handed to them.
Or arrive on an inflatable.
My late father fought in WW2, makes me wonder what
he fought for.
We ain’t the country we used too be, that ship sailed
those days will never return whoever is in power.
It was the mum’s or dads car that they took on a joy ride and they didn’t stop cause they were high and were over the speed limit so they got scared especially since what was in the car
Speeding is out of control on this lawless Isle.
Tricky when your “loosing” control. Lol
They need a sharp lesson in right and wrong and the parents need to be involved. this could have ended with one or more being killed. What is wrong with these people.
We need tougher laws, the police do their bit and then
nothing happens.
It’s no wonder people will re-offend
Real cars crash like video games but can’t be rebooted by turning them off and on again.
I’m guessing that ‘Released under investigation’ means, er, ‘Released.’
Yep of course nothing to happen.
They have to go back soon for another investigation I half know most of the teens in that car it was being discussed today around school aswell
Well at least people wont be blaming us older drivers again
It’s never the older drivers, just the odd numpty
who slips through the net.
