5 teenagers, suspected of being out on the rob, have been arrested after the vehicle they were travelling in sped away from Police and crashed during the early hours of this morning (Sunday).
It was shortly before 01:30 that officers observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner on The Fairway in Sandown.
When officers attempted to stop the car, the driver failed to comply and sped away towards Lake.
But the pursuit was short lived as Police soon came across the car at the bottom of Lake Hill, having crashed into a wall and a parked car outside a residential property.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a total of 5 teenagers, aged 15 to 17, have all been arrested.
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, drink driving, aggravated vehicle taking, and going equipped for theft.
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, going equipped for theft, aggravated vehicle taking, and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
3 others were also arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft and aggravated vehicle taking; two 16-year-old olds and a 15-year-old boy.
All 5 remain in custody for questioning at this time.
Bring back the Borstal system.

What’s been reported isn’t good and I don’t condone it at all, but you’ve filled in a lot of gaps with assumptions. They’ve been arrested, not convicted. The article doesn’t say who was driving, whether there was a licence, or half the things you’re claiming.
Borstals were scrapped because they didn’t reduce crime, and youth custody actually has high reoffending rates, so harsher punishment clearly isn’t the simple fix people keep shouting for.
Maybe wait for facts instead of turning every headline into the same complaint.
