A number of teenagers were arrested for a variety of offences after Police responded to reports of fireworks being set off in Newport Bus Station on Saturday night.
Response and patrol officers responded into the town centre when it was reported persons were setting off fireworks within Newport Bus Station shortly before 20:30. As a result, a 17-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of assault.
Following this arrest, officers were then subjected to abusive behaviour from a small group of males. Scott Parker, 18, from Whitepit Lane in Newport was arrested on suspicion of being drunk & disorderly in a public place. He has been charged with this offence and will appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 1st December.
A 17-year-old male and a 15-year-old male were also arrested in relation to the above on suspicion of obstructing a police constable in the execution of their duty. The 15-year-old remains on Police bail following this incident with a curfew between 19:00-07:00.
The 17-year-old was subsequently reported for summons.
During this incident, officers deployed PAVA incapacitant spray to detain a number of the males. A section 35 dispersal order was authorised, however, due to effective policing no further dispersals were required.

They should have their back broken with a spade, then see how brave they are crippled for the rest of their worthless lives. Whilst they will then need to be kept by the state, sadly they will anyway, and produce countless clones and ever more damage and cost to society, so still a cheaper and effective option. Eventually the UK and much of the world trash now living here, might ‘get the message’.

I know that this will be seen as a ‘Killjoy’ approach, but why oh why are fireworks still on sale direct to the public?
I know you always get the hooligan minority, but surely it would be far better and safer if fireworks were only available for properly organised displays.

We should start a new independent party on the Island with one of the policies being where the public can vote on the severity of the sentence on scum after a crime. Might gut feeling is we will have the lowest crime rate in the country.
Just ban fireworks simple no more wildlife or domesticated animals terrified.
