A 19-year-old man was threatened with a knife in Newport late last night (Saturday), just 24 hours after a separate incident in which a man was threatened with a bottle.
According to Hampshire Constabulary, it is reported that the teenager was threatened with a knife by another man in the vicinity of the bus station in the centre of Newport at 23:15 last night. This wasn’t reported until 02:29 this morning, however.
Island Echo is told that the suspect and another fled the scene in a vehicle.
Officers are investigating this incident and anyone who witnessed what happened is asked to call 101 quoting 44200461303.
Separately, Police dealt with another incident of a threatening nature on Friday night.
Officers were called to Newport Bus Station at 23:45 on Friday 27th November to reports of a public order incident.
During the incident, a man is reported to have threatened a number of people with a bottle.
Police attended the scene but the suspect had left the scene prior to their arrival. No-one was injured.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information should call 101 quoting 44200460019.

What is happening to the Island, bottle, knives, drugs, sex offenders ! !
And this is before the hundreds of new houses being built.
So if it’s happening now you can’t blame any future developments. The Island has always had an edge but people like to pretend it’s some kind of utopia. It’s not and hasn’t been since the 60s
The amount of crime is INCREASING, whether you accept it or not. Even 15 years ago the Island wasn’t endless assaults and battery, knifing, break-ins and car crashes. Yes they happened but nowhere near the same levels as today.
Agree, definitely getting worse.
You are an ignorant fool IF you truly believe that filling thousands of homes, with multiples of thousands of extra people, many from other mainland councils excess which ‘they’ pay our council to take, will not be the worst tenants persuaded to come here.
MORE people of such will add more pressure on jobs, with more unemployment, which leads to more crime.
Seems YOU have a vested interest in the masse building or only a fool would see it as positive for crime, overcrowding, anti social behaviour, more traffic, more queues and waiting time for doctors, dentists, schools, lack of Police as ever more stretched, hospital pressure.
So, which ever ‘cap’ fits, wear it.
You talk absolute sh*t! Nothing you have said has any validity or truth to it. You are a sad old troll who likes to create drama based on fake news .. Get a life! Stop scaremongering! Loser!
Yeah that’s just the locals,
No police. They cut half the force a few years ago when it was already low. Also less work to go around as all the NIMBY’s are stopping anything and everything. Rather see no change and let the island rot than allow it’s economy grow.
An EVERY DAY event where ‘certain’ types now live on the mainland en masse. As the same happens every-time to in Europe then their arrival cannot just make such ‘coincidence’ can it?
Such a shame life has changed so much on the island
As a child growing up us older no
What that was like
And kids teenager of today will never grow up with respect to many drugs
Knife crime
Such a shame …
People here don’t realise just how awful life will be for their children now the council are only interested in gaining huge sums from en masses building to feather their nests whilst destroying this Island, forever.
When the ‘type’ which are hardly genteel arrive, this quite Island will be in for a huge shock.
That is the real shame.
It seems something has got to be done to make Newport and Ryde bus stations safer. The dregs in society seem to hang around these places and cause trouble.
One can’t keep ‘making a ‘place’ safe’, for these vile beings merely go elsewhere to cause misery for others.
It is them who need taking out of society, be it in jail, or in a hard army run unit with military rules and law, and no outside contact for ten years minimum as a deterrent.
Anything else is just window dressing to appease fools, who think they will merely go home quietly to bed like good little boys and girls
Wake up this is NOT 1950.
Thousands of extra homes for such beings will make this all so much worse. Watch.
Well I know it will only get worse, I don’t have to wake up. But a bus station is used by many people of all ages and it should be a safe place to sit and wait for a bus. More CCTV and put these dregs under curfew.
Newport bus station at night has a night security and none of you know what happened
Speak English idiot!!
Trouble is there’s no police out on the beat preventing this sort of behaviour, there called once the incident happens .
No prevention it’s all reaction ,,,, big fail
As our jails are filled with many of those fairly new to the UK and the offspring of such, then no amount of police will prevent this unless they are shadowing every low life 24/7
For what we need is more action by courts to jail these beings, BUT they can’t do so, as the jails are filled with those doing far, far worse, as we will soon witness when the thousands of homes are filled with such ‘delights’ from mainland excess areas paying our council to take on such here.
Wait and see but then all too late to tell me that I was correct.
Quite agree, but one would think, with almost everyone having a mobile phone the police could (should) be summoned quickly. Although perhaps not as quickly as a whistle would have brought them when police patrolled on foot.
What is happening to the once safe island
Once it was nice, but not anymore.
