Offensive graffiti believed to be linked to the recent attack on Shanklin Football Club has now been found on fencing beside a primary school and public footpath.
Although the swastika graffiti sprayed on Shanklin FC’s clubhouse has now been removed following strong community outcry, it has emerged that further offensive markings remain in a nearby public area.
Island Echo has been told that fencing running alongside the football pitch and the public walkway next to Lake and Gatten Primary School was also targeted, with graffiti believed to have been carried out by the same youths responsible for the clubhouse vandalism.
The fence sits directly beside a well-used pedestrian route and close to the school grounds, raising further concern among residents about both the location and the nature of the offensive symbols.
A local resident who discovered the additional graffiti said:
“There has been a lot of positivity since the clubhouse was targeted, but this hasn’t been cleaned up yet. I was walking alongside the football pitch and saw they have also graffitied the fence next to Lake and Gatten Primary School.
“It’s along a public walkway by the school. If these youths are going to put things right, this also needs removing. I feel sorry for the fence owner — they shouldn’t have to deal with this.”

If you look closely, this pictured swastika more resembles the Hindu symbol than the Nazi symbol.
if so, it was likely due to inability of the graffitier,.. rather than by intent.
I doubt these little scums, even know what Hindi is…
Let’s for the minute assume the people responsible are the same as those who have admitted fault for spraying the same symbols on the same day very close by at the Football Club.
Has Donna Jones or anyone from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police ACTUALLY BEEN INVOLVED.
Minimum those kids should have been dragged into Shanklin Police Station and interviewed.
Kids do not fear ‘the man’ any more. The Police in the community care about Cars and violent crime.
Perhaps having an arrest and a brown trouser moment might go a long way to proactively ensuring the kids keep on the straight and narrow in the future.
Or fine the parents to make them care about their kids. They were clearly under 16 on the CCTV so needed to have had a Baby Sitter on the Development day when the Secondary Schools were closed on Monday 5th January
Make parents buy the paint and get kids to repaint fence or they’ll face charges, need to take responsibility for crime
Just cut their benefits for life, job done.
