A fire appliance from Newport was called to extinguish a blaze involving a disused shed on Pelham Road in Cowes earlier today (Thursday).
The wholetime crew were called out shortly before 14:00 and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
A further appliance from Ryde was stood down en-route.
Newport stood down from the incident left the scene at around 14:20.
It is understood that arson is being considered as the cause of the fire.
A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said:
“Police were made aware as it is believed it was set deliberately.”

What’s wrong with Cowes fire station ?
Probably cheaper to use the full time crew that are already being paid !
One cannot always rely on Retained Fire Cover
What the hell is going on more arson attacks on the Island. Didn’t that guy go to jail for setting light to vans last year or am I being delusional. The police really need to get on this and tougher sentences. Thank goodness no one was hurt.Well done to the amazing fire brigade.
Think hes on bail
Wonder if that’s the dilapidated one in-between Thetis and Pelham. Nasty chap owns/owned it. He had ‘Perks’ cafe in Ventnor, I think. Trying to sell said ‘shed’. Tried to stop residents access behind their houses saying it belonged to him. Clearing ready to build, maybe?
