A suspected drug dealer has been arrested by Police after being spotted diving into a dark alley and crouching down in the corner.
Officers were patrolling Quay Street in Newport yesterday evening when a male drew their attention.
The unnamed 36-year-old was acting suspiciously as, upon seeing the Police car, he went into a dark alley and knelt down in the corner trying to hide.
A Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act search was carried out and as a result, the man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.
A quantity of Class A and Class B drugs were discovered upon the male’s person.

“Islanders are being encouraged to let the Police know about what is going on in your town.” No point, I’ve tried and nothing ever comes of it.
Most good people don’t like drugs, but we are all at risk reporting drug dealing because it could make us a target and the police don’t have the resources to protect us.
I’ve been reporting the same local dealers for years and the police fo absolutely nothing. Even though a very large quantity of class A drugs were found at their premises. They are only interested in easy arrests so teenagers and motorists are all the police target. When they should be targeting criminals.
our housing officer told us local pcso is aware of the drug problem in bembridge but not doing anything csuse they want the suppliers not the dealers so we have to live here and just put up with it disjusted its going on in there propertys they are, aware, and doibg nothing about it so whats the point of reporting it
