A 45-year-old man from Seaview has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and 2 other offences following a crash in Ryde this morning (Sunday).
Police were called at just gone 06:00 to reports of a single vehicle collision involving a silver Mercedes on Smallbrook Lane.
Debris could be seen spread across the carriageway and up towards Westridge.
Officers attended and arrested the Seaview man on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink, aggravated vehicle taking and assault by beating.
He remains in custody at Newport Police Station this morning.

And if we got back the coppers that were removed a few years ago in Theresa May’s cost cutting they could catch more of them.
They will need more that a few extra when Pennyfeathers and Bullen are filled with thousands of extra delights, much from the mainland inner city.
