The Isle of Wight Lottery has revealed its summer £5,000 winner as Patrick O’Connor – a WightFibre employee who only began playing the local lottery in September 2024.
Patrick was presented with the £5,000 cheque earlier today and was left stunned by the win, just days before heading off on a family holiday.
His lottery entry came via WightFibre, who enrolled him as part of their staff benefits package while also helping to support the Isle of Wight’s economy. The company is among several local businesses that take part in the lottery’s Payroll scheme.
On his win, Patrick has said:
“I’m absolutely speechless! We’re going on a family holiday on Friday, so we’re really going to enjoy ourselves now.”
By playing the Isle of Wight Lottery, participants are helping to generate local employment opportunities. Operated by the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce, the lottery supports job creation by offering 0% interest loans to businesses and start-ups across the Isle of Wight.
Since launching in 2001, the lottery has helped create over 450 jobs and provided more than £1.3 million in business loans. Each week, players are in with a chance of winning £1,000, as well as ten prizes of £100. The recent £10,000 annual jackpot winner was announced just last month.
