An emergency closure on Shanklin’s Church Road is causing delays for both locals and tourists today (Monday).
The main road through Shanklin Old Village, Church Road is currently closed for 161m between Chine Avenue and Rectory Road.
Southern Water engineers are currently on scene at a residential address in the area.
The emergency closure will mean a lengthy diversion, through Wroxall and Whiteley Bank, for those heading between Shanklin and Ventnor.
It is hoped that the works will be completed within 5 days.
As a result of the works, Southern Vectis Route 3 buses will be diverting via Trinity Road, St Boniface Road, Upper Ventnor, Wroxall and Whiteley Bank.

What a ridiculous time to have so many
roads closed.
Shanklin old Village would agree with you but in this case it’s a collapsed sewer pumping sewage into a local business,it needs fixing and probably another underfunded”let’s keep paying the shareholders”Southern Water cock up.
