Police, HM Coastguard, the National Police Air Service Helicopter and Ryde Inshore Rescue were all involved in the search for a missing 7-year-old boy near East Cowes earlier this afternoon (Sunday).
A full scale search operation was launched shortly before 14:00 when the youngster went missing from Barton Estate near to Whippingham.
Ryde Inshore Rescue were tasked to conduct a shoreline search of Osborne Bay and BemBridge Coastguard Rescue Team were also tasked to the area, however the missing child was found safe and well after 40 minutes.
WightSAR, the Island’s volunteer search and rescue team were placed on standby by Hampshire Constabulary and the NPAS helicopter from Bournemouth stood down whilst en-route to the Island.
