In what organisers have described as an opportunity for geeks and nerds to enjoy and embrace their passion together, fantasy fans had their version of fun at Fan TC Con at Cowes Yacht Haven on Sunday (6th November).
Visitors had the opportunity to meet some of their heroes including actor Clive Mantle who played Little John in Robin of Sherwood and Lord Jon Umber in Game of Thrones, as well as Carla Mendonça, who played the mother alien Sophie Johnson in ITV’s My Parents Are Aliens and Simon Fisher-Becker, who played Dorium Maldovar in Doctor Who and the Fat Friar in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Fan TC Con organiser Adam Pearson said:
“I’m very happy and thrilled so many people came. We sold 200 tickets in advance and altogether around 600 came to the event. The highlight was the magic of seeing so many people in cosplay.
“You’ve got to hope for the best. But I’m a pessimist. Now, I’m on a buzz because the event has gone so well.
1 of the attendees at Fan TC Con was Aaron Danvers-Jukes, who has been blind since birth.
Aaron said:
“I love Sci-fi. I was happy to meet some cosplayers. It’s great to be able to touch different costumes. It helps me to be able to touch costumes as they are not described on TV.”

Fan TC Con was organised with Wessex Cancer Trust, which helps and supports anyone affected by cancer regardless of age, gender or type of cancer in the Wessex region. Every year, around 23,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in the Wessex area.
Profits from the convention will be used to help alleviate the suffering of those afflicted by cancer and support the families of cancer victims.
