Wightlink Cycle Race Team members Charis Jones and Alfie Haydon were in action on the mainland last weekend.
On Saturday, Charis travelled to Liton in Somerset to compete in the Royal Navy Cup Women’s National B race.
Charis was up against some of the best riders in the South Region. In the fast-paced 35 mile race Charis finished strongly in the bunch.
Charis says
“After being involved in a crash in my first race of the season last week I was concentrating on finishing. I felt really strong today and am looking forward to my next race in a couple of weeks”
On Sunday Alfie traveled to Newnham Park near Plymouth for the first round of the South West MTB series where he was first Junior.
Alfie says:
“It was the muddiest race of the year so far, but was sunny and a great course race on”
Thanks go out to team sponsors Wightlink Isle of Wight Ferries, Island Renewables Ltd, Wight Mountain, KReative Studios and Rapanui for their continued support.
Had a crash already in her first race?
Not a good start and this is why I avoid ladies on their cycle
I do the same with ladies in vehicles,
best to avoid them, majority of them are
too busy putting on their make up when
sitting idle in traffic.
