Royal Mail postal workers on the Isle of Wight – and across the country – are once again on strike in the continuing row over pay.
Those who are part of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) have walked out as part of a 24-hour strike with picket lines established outside sorting offices in Ryde, Sandown and Newport.
The row over pay has been going on for months and the situation hasn’t improved, with 6,000 jobs now at risk of redundancy nationwide due to financial losses created by the strikes.
Royal Mail will continue to deliver as many Special Delivery and Tracked24 parcels as possible, with priority given to COVID test kits and medical prescriptions.

“with 6,000 jobs now at risk of redundancy nationwide due to financial losses created by the strikes.” Will serve them right. We all have to face tough times and striking helps no-one.
Do you not think they know this?
But still they strike.
Might give you some idea as to the conditions they work under.
Utter nonsense. If they don’t like it they can go find better jobs. I how all the strikes get laid off. All of them.
Totally ridiculous …..
If you can afford to lose money carry on …..
Job losses will happen and then sit back and wonder was it worth it ???????
Anyone who strikes puts the cost up for someone else and so it goes on ….
If we,all went on strike what would happen ??????
Alas everyone is replaceable…..
We are all facing higher living costs but learn to juggle or you will be redundant / replaced …
Or perhaps you don’t care ????
But one day you may regret your actions.!!!!!!!
Don’t forget the unions are still getting paid whilst you are not ….
ok every postman quit and look for another job, Want better pay? dont you think when they took on the job they took it on knowing it was enough to feed and pay for their families. then over time cost of living goes up. Now they cant afford it. so you say get a better job… so easy that. or should they ask the government to fund more working people working full time. when they flood it with cheap labor and ill sit back and watch you all moan about the bad service you receive once a week. These posties are standing up for YOUR post service. Stop just reading headlines and go and talk to them .
i was a postie at that office shown back in mid 90s when strikes were on then.granted back then things were pretty crap but tbf pay was ok.i had a high mortgage at time and was young.
things hsve 100%moved on in terms of hours n conditions (not perfect but its payed employment)but a posties job is better than most in terms of job description. i wasnt in union so i worked strikes.its all bsndwagon crso now.your wsges are 1000 times better than a supermarket worker who CANT strike.in any job theres fatcats …its life.your all killing the business and we all suffer costs too
jobs will go …be ready
Why are you so against these people trying to improve life for them and there families instead of letting greedy management suck all the money out of the company and tell them there’s none left and try and change the terms and conditions to make them even worst off, you may have no backbone so go and hide in a dark corner and let people walk all over you, people like you are part of the problem with this country
yawn…iv worked there…it aint as bsd as they say!
The key word is worked there , you don’t know what it going on now , do some research it might enlighten you
We are doing it as it’s our right to do so , next time we will get permission from you before we make a decision
Best of luck to them in their fight.
Stfu. They’re withholding peoples mail. It’s theft. I need my packages. They are welcome to go find better jobs.
Ha ha theft you absolute cretin
Theft ? Are you simple ?
if its important (meds) then i am sure you will receive them. if it’s a plug, roll of sellotape or your large order of wipes. then you don’t need them, you WANT your packages. Trouble with the world don’t know difference between need and want
I’m here to read island busy bodies, moan, moan, moan, moan….
A worthless comment from and even less valuable person.
mark the ……… come out from your bedroom, you keyboard warrior. vile person you are
So they have struck themselves out of a job. Trouble is aggression tends to meet with counter obstinacy as it becomes a battle of egos, and the feelings and needs of those whom they are paid to serve are forgotten
Aggression, so you know what the threats from Royal Mail have been to us , that they have bribed managers to stay in work , do some research
I’ve reported them to the police. My packages are being undelivered even though they’re in post office hands. I told them “they’re withholding my belongings” the police agreed and said they would investigate. Do your damn jobs and be grateful you have one. If you don’t like working for the post office go find another job that’s better.
Well here’s an honest and true statement for you , the post office and Royal Mail are two different companies, do some research idiot
You are a complete bellend
Ha ha poor diddums, waiting for your parcels is one of your parcels a box of tissues
Are we bored by any chance, the police would have laughed at you
need to report the government as they sold YOUR Royal Mail on the cheap . under valued it to the tune of 1 BILLION. Thats your money !
It’s actually to do with a lot more than pay, and the conditions being disputed are conditions that are yet to be enforced, so “I used to work there” has no weight in this discussion. The job losses, wherever they think they can make those, are down to losses which have almost nothing to do with the strikes, as those same losses were blamed for the shocking offer in the first place, before any strikes were even proposed. Lazy journalism.
Royal Mail can afford to give their staff a decent pay rise, but they choose not too!
I support the Post workers.
I must say my local postman and postwomen do a great job.
Keep up the good work and hopefully you will get better conditions.
