Island Line trains will be running a revised timetable later today (Tuesday) due to yet more staff shortages.
A number of scheduled journeys between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin have been pulled, impacting after school and rush hour travel.
South Western Railway says a shortage of train crew is to blame.
The following services have been cancelled:
From Ryde Esplanade to Shanklin: 15:13, 17:14, 18:14, 19:14 and 20:18 (to Ryde St John’s Road)
From Shanklin to Ryde Esplanade: 15:47, 16:47. 17:47, 18:47 and 19:51
From Ryde Pier Head to Shanklin: 18:45

Another massive outbreak of covid? Employ more people!
But you have to pay people! We only pay shareholders!
Before the usual keyboard warriors post their comments blaming railway employees for shortage of staff – these employees worked throughout COVID and continue to without a pay increase since 2019.
The mostly foreign owned train operating companies (TOCS) do not employ enough staff preferring to reward their overseas shareholders (as opposed to manned ticket offices for instance).
– Don’t be fooled into blaming the staff for the companies (and politicians) shortcomings.
Your right but never see any jobs advertised ?
Was just gonna say are there any jobs going? Haven’t had a day off sick for years.
They did have a pay rise subsquent to 2019 , your interpretation is that as the rise wasn’t above the current inflation they they did not get a real term rise, amazing what a slant on a story can do, lets publsh the hige amount of sickness each rail employee takes each year, equal on last figures to a further two weeks a year holiday.a year.Besides where can an employee without a single educational qualification earn 50K plus a year driving a small train on tracks at 30MPH.While you are discussing foreign ownership where do you think the majority of RMT and ASLEF pension funds are invested, you got it, abroad.
Your interpretation is completely wrong. The only members of staff on £50k plus are management. Takes around 3 months to train a guard, around 8 months for a driver. Depot staff will take around 3 months for basic training. Plus the trains operate at 45mph. You really should think before you comment on something that you clearly know nothing about
Tar Mac the lot and be done with this shiftless crew.
Their two Winter customers can cab share and we can have a relief road for the good of millions.
I supose you would use gibion cages for the foundation of the road
Interesting that you never comment when it comes to southern vectis, go back to your knitting. Vectis cancel around 10 services a day
If you’re not Bob Seely you ought to be the amount of rubbish and fact less information that you spew out.
A decent tram service would probably do the trick, especially if they expanded the route to Ventnor and Newport. The train service is mainly good most of the time but trams are swifter and more efficent.
You must be Rob from ventir if you’re not bob seely
You are making me cry
Do wightlink, red funnel and Island line all use the same staff pool? Seems like if one has a teaboy out they all do!
Despite the other failings of hovertravel they have at least have enough staff.
Oh and anyone from hovertravel reads this, can you get the hand dryer in southsea fixed its been broken fir weeks!
What a pointless service not wanted hardly used and paying staff constantly for sick leave.
Why don’t they get volunteers to run this pathetic service
