Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club travelled to Southampton over the weekend for the Junior and Coastal Head of the River races, with 10 junior and 6 adult athletes making the most of the beautiful weather.
The junior squad delivered 3 wins in the 2.5km Junior Head in rough conditions.
Digby Ridgwell won the Boys J14/15 Scull by 54 seconds and Connie Batley-Smith won the Girls J14/15 Scull by 19 seconds.
Alex Collier, pairing up with Harry Watts of Ryde Rowing Club, won the Boys J14/15 Double. Rose Collier finished 2nd in the Girls J16 Scull.
In the main 4.5km Head, Anna Scott and Esme Walters finished 4th in the Ladies Open Pair. The Men’s Junior Four of Fin Diffey, Isaac King, Paul Gamble and Tobin Green, coxed by Stella Gamble, finished fifth in a tough field of over ten crews.
The Ladies Junior Four of Theodora Travers, Lottie Pettitt, Annabelle Steward and Chloe Walker, coxed by Jane Denby-Roach, finished sixth, also against more than ten crews. Many thanks go to Annabelle for stepping in at short notice due to injury.
