Isle of Wight NHS Trust Charity is holding their first ever Santa Dash this year, so it is time to get into the Christmas spirit and raise funds for your local hospital.
Taking place on Sunday 15th December, the event will start at the Royal London Yacht Club in Cowes at 10:30. Runners will then run along the seafront for either 2km or 5km.
The event provides different options to sign up, with a general entry or a fundraising entry, giving dashers the choice to run and fundraise or simply run for fun. It’s open to all the family, including children and dogs (providing they are on leads). Under 5s can participate in the event for free.
The charity will provide the Santa suits, and all participants will receive a medal. Bacon rolls, vegetarians rolls and hot drinks will be available to purchase.
Events such as the Santa Dash help to support the charity, who are committed to caring for our Isle of Wight community. Donations, fundraising and events like this mean that the charity can help support the health and wellbeing of staff and volunteers, as well as providing financial support for non-essential items that are not covered or fully supported by NHS funds. Examples include dementia friendly activity boxes and bladder scanners.
Kate Sandys, Head of IOW NHS Charity, said:
“This is an exciting time for the charity and we are so excited to be launching our first ever Santa Dash! We are hoping to grow this event year on year but for this year, we are just dedicated to spreading joy and making a positive impact on St Mary’s Hospital!
“This Santa Dash is a wonderful way to bring people together for a fantastic cause. I am incredibly grateful for the support of our volunteers, participants and sponsors who have all made this event possible.”
