A pair of prison officers were left ‘shocked and dumbfounded’ after a disgusting, unprovoked spitting assaults from a convicted sex offender.
Dashiell Mahi, 27, of HMP Isle of Wight, admitted to 2 counts of assault of an emergency worker by beating when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this week (31st March).
Crown prosecutor, Leah Dillon, told the court on 19th January, during a night shift, the officer was completing a welfare check on the defendant, when he found Mahi standing on a fence outside of his cell with his arms raised.
Mahi responded ‘**ck off’ before spitting at the officer, with saliva landing on both his face and jumper.
On 26th January after a denial to his request to move to a different prison, Mahi refused to return to his cell, deciding instead to jump onto out-of-bounds safety netting.
An attempt from an officer to persuade Mahi to come off the netting was met with no response. Mahi then spat at the officer thrice, landing on his face and jacket – and offered to fight him.
The court heard how Mahi is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence after he was convicted for throwing boiling water over a fellow inmate at HMP Winchester, in what was described at the time as a premeditated attack.
Defending, Nick Muir said that his client had ‘limited memory of his offending behaviour’ and that on the second occasion, Mahi was wound up by seeing officers going through his belongings.
Magistrates handed Mahi a 6-week sentence to be served consecutively at the end of his existing 10-year sentence. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £154 surcharge fee.

who would actually defend a sick sexual offender anyway no money would make it worth defending him for what’s he’s done.
