A sold-out speedway meeting in Plymouth, which will feature riders from the Isle of Wight, is to be live streamed on a pay-to-view basis tomorrow (Tuesday).
The Wightlink Warriors have been invited to take part in the upcoming test meeting at Plymouth’s Coliseum Stadium. The event will be a 3-team tournament that will see an Eastbourne ‘Select’ side as the third outfit.
Having satisfied all appropriate regulations laid down by British Speedway’s governing body and the local authority in Plymouth, the Devon club will be admitting 400 paying spectators in a regulated and controlled environment.
The meeting is already sold out but Island fans will be able to watch the meeting by heading over to Speedway Chat Room.
Warriors’ co-promoter Barry Bishop has said:
“It’s great news that we can look forward to some track action although we are very conscious that the meeting will be conducted and managed in a very structured way.
“Ambitious Plymouth promoter and his team have worked really hard to get to this stage and I’m delighted that the Warriors can help test the new arrangements. Speedway promoters up and down the country will be looking at these test events to ensure that clubs are in the best possible shape when we come to tapes in 2021.
“I would like to thank Mark for his invitation and also say a big thank you to our riders who, despite being race rusty, all jumped at the chance of competitive action. Make no mistake, we’ll be doing our best to win the meeting and contribute to a great night”.
The Warriors will line up with Ben Morley, Connor Coles, Tom Woolley and Chad Wirtzfeld whilst Connor King will feature for the Eastbourne ‘Select’.

Good on Plymouth allowing this to go ahead under a regular and controlled conditions. 400 paying people will be far happier. Hope it goes well and the Wightlink Warriors do well.
Horrid noisy, smelly, dirty and best off without it. My windows get all dusty from it, and the cat won’t settle or go outside, so have to have a dirt box when it is on, she is old and doesn’t always hit the target.
