Southern Housing’s care and support team achieved a hat-trick of successes at this year’s Isle of Wight Care Awards, held at Northwood House.
Following feedback from residents and staff, Victoria Mogford, CQC Service Manager at Southern Housing, made the nominations and all 3 of the shortlisted candidates were recognised on the night.
Samantha Cronnelly, Registered Manager at Ryde Extra Care Village, took home one of the evening’s highest honours, Registered Manager of the Year. Sam leads by example, encouraging team development, and ensuring residents receive the highest standards of care, all of which make her a standout leader in the sector.
Amanda Foster, Cleaner at 22 Argyll Street, a care home for adults with learning disabilities and autism, was awarded Winner of the Keeping House Award. Amanda was celebrated for her commitment to creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Her attention to detail, warm rapport with residents, and personal approach makes her a key part of the team.
Finally, Suwanna (Wan) Knights, Housekeeper at Byrnhill Grove Residential Care Home, was named Runner-Up in the Keeping House category. Known for her impeccable standards and compassion, Wan consistently goes above and beyond to ensure residents feel comfortable and valued.
Speaking after the award ceremony, held on 25th April, Victoria said:
“We’re over the moon that Sam, Amanda and Wan were honoured at the Care Awards. They’re extremely committed to our residents and such an integral part of the team, so their wins are well deserved.
“Receiving these awards is a testament to their hard work and dedication to supporting some of the Island’s most vulnerable residents and we’re incredibly proud of them.”
