Police and paramedics have rushed to Wroxall this evening (Sunday) following a single-vehicle road traffic collision.
Emergency service personnel were first called to Clarence Road – around 100m past the Mountfield Road junction – at around 22:45, following reports of a single vehicle collision.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were first on scene, with Isle of Wight Ambulance Service – who have dispatched a pair of ambulances to the scene – arriving soon after.
At the scene, it appears as though the vehicle – a grey VW Golf – has veered off the carriageway and into a hedge. A large amount of dirt and debris has been left on the road.
Bartletts are already on scene and are working to load the stricken vehicle onto their recovery truck.
Southern Vectis buses are currently on diversion as a result.
Those out and about on the Island’s road network this evening, are urged to avoid the area for the time being.
UPDATE @ 23:55 – The road has completely reopened.
And another bit of hedge gets flattened due (probably) to excess speed or lack of experience and/or concentration. It is not a dangerous road, the surface is OK, and anyone who drives it regularly will be well aware of the corners, blind spots and braking zones and yet we have seen 2 cars prune the hedge, within 500 yards of each other in the past few months. Many of us hear the idiots racing up and down Newport Road all night long so perhaps a bit of Police cover might help, if you aren’t too busy watching Social Media posts of course! On the other hand we can always just wait for the inevitable Death that will occur eventually.
Not to forget Numpty’s speeding up
Beachfield Road in Sandown day in day out.
The island could put in measures to stop vehicles
speeding – BUT CHOOSE NOT TOO!
Why!!!!!
It does not matter what measures you want to put in, these selfish bastards will still ignore it.
They won’t if the Council install speed humps
like the ones along East Cowes seafront.
“That will make the B’stards slow down”
