A single-vehicle collision has occurred between Rookley and Godshill this evening (Wednesday) leaving the road partially blocked.
A Peugeot 206 has collided with an embankment in the ‘S’ bends between Brownrigg’s Farm Shop and Chequers Inn Road.
The vehicle is on all 4 wheels but is currently stuck in the middle of the carriageway.
Thr road remains passable for smaller vehicles, however, larger vehicles including buses are on diversion.
Island Echo understands nobody has been injured in the incident.
Southern Vectis’ Route 3 buses are currently diverting from Whiteley Bank, via Canteen Road, Apse Heath, Arreton to Merstone Lane – in both directions – to then rejoin their normal line of route.
At present, there are currently no emergency services on scene.
Delays are expected in the area until the vehicle has been recovered.
UPDATE @ 22:48 – Police are now in attendance and have moved the car to the side of the road.
Southern Vectis buses are now resuming a normal route.

And what’s the betting its yet another shit island driver
The question is was there McDonald’s or kfc wrappers in car or just careless driving???
Every driver who has a single-vehicle accident should have their mobile phone record checked.
correct headline should be driver ploughs car into embankment – mobile phone records being checked, breath test and drug swab tests being taken and road worthiness of car investigated.
driver of car billed for recovery of vehicle and will have licence automatically revoked if the outcome of the investigation shows that crap driving skills or chatting with some other clown on the phone was the reason for not being able to see the completely empty, clear and obvious path to follow.
If from ‘Spanners’, we can expect all of the above, and more.
Pe nny Fe ather will be what ‘Spanners’ is to Chale.
