Sharon Winter – leader of Ryde Rainbows – has been presented with a 40 years service award.
Rainbows – the youngest members of Girlguiding – and their leaders got together for a fun afternoon of activities and games at Puckpool Pool on one of the hottest days of the year.
The event was organised by Donna Sanders – Steel Rainbow Section Commissioner – and other leaders. Rainbows from across the Island attended this Rainbow Section meet-up, which marked the end of another successful year with girls making new friends, gaining badges, and helping their communities.
Activities included a nature trail and, to the delight of the girls, games involving cold water, which were just right for a very hot day.
Advice on keeping safe in very hot weather had been sent to parents/carers prior to the event and with shade from the trees in the park and plenty of water, everyone had an enjoyable afternoon.
The award was presented by Linda Stone, Island Commissioner.
