The Shanklin & District History Society (S&DHS) are to mark the 80th Anniversary of D Day with an exhibition of life in Shanklin in 1944. The event is on Saturday 25th May from 10:00 to 15:00 at the Falcon Cross Hall in Shanklin. Entry is free and all are welcome. There will be displays of pictures and stories from the S&DHS archive, a display of World War II artefacts, plus old maps and directories to help find out ‘who lived in your house?’ Local history books and old postcards will also be on sale together with S&DHS publications ‘Artist George Brannon’ (£4) and ‘Edwardian Shanklin’ (£5).
