It looks set to be a blustery start to the New Year according to local weather forecaster IW Met Service.
Between 13:00 and 23:59 on New Year’s Day (Wednesday 1st January), severe gales in excess of 70mph and heavy rain are predicted.
Islanders should be wary of large waves lapping onto local seafronts.
The adverse conditions may also bring about delays and cancellations on cross-Solent travel routes.
Those using the Island’s road network should watch for any fallen trees/debris on the road surface and are urged to drive with care.
