UPDATED: A crash has resulted in the closure of Military Road this afternoon (Friday).
Fire crews are working alongside paramedics at the scene near Compton, where it is said a vehicle has rolled over on a series of bends.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident at 14:00.
The road has been closed by Police between Brook and Freshwater Bay.
UPDATE @ 15:47 – The male driver of a white semi-hi top van has escaped any serious injury after the vehicle overturned on a long right hand bend.
Fire crews from Freshwater and Ventnor have freed the man from the vehicle by removing the windscreen. The casualty has since been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance.
Military Road has now reopened following recovery of the van by Bartletts Service Station.
