WightSAR and HM Coastguard have this afternoon (Wednesday) resumed their search of Culver Down in the hunt for missing 42-year-old Joanna Orpin.

Horrendous weather conditions, as experienced in yesterday’s 6-hour search, are yet again hampering efforts with driving rain and gale force winds beating down on Culver Down near Sandown.

Volunteer search technicians from WightSAR and Coastguard Officers from Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team are re-searching the vast area in the hope of discovering something further to lead to the whereabouts of Joanna.

Hampshire Constabulary are also in attendance.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen Joanna’s car, a black Audi, parked at a car park on Culver yesterday morning. The car was found by members of the family at around 10:00 and a major search launched soon after, but it wasn’t until yesterday evening that an appeal was launched by Police.

Anyone with any information relating to this incident is asked to contact Police on 101, quoting 44180058184.
