Islanders are being invited to join a rally outside Planet Ice in Ryde tomorrow afternoon (Sunday) to show support for the tourist attraction after it was announced on Tuesday that the ice rink will close at the end of March.
Nearly 9,000 people have signed a petition calling for the rink to stay open, with over 5,500 people having joined a Facebook group to share memories and discuss the ongoing situation. Despite this, the venue is losing money and owners have called time on the ice rink.
At 15:00 tomorrow a rally is being held outside the doors of Planet Ice on Ryde Esplanade to show a united front, with a hard copy of the petition available for signatures. All are welcome with several hundreds of people expected to turn out.
On 4th March a Wightlink Raiders Past vs Present ice hockey match is being held with the current Raiders facing off against former players. The cost is just £5.00 per adult and £3.00 per child. More information can be gathered by calling 01983 615155.
