The relocation of Sandown’s Post Office to a nearby SPAR shop has been confirmed, although a date is yet to be set.
The Post Office has agreed to move Sandown Post Office to SPAR Sandown on Albert Road, just 400m from the existing Post Office on Beachfield Road. The proposal was first reported back in February.
The new style Post Office will have two open plan counters and a screened position which will be open Monday to Saturday 09:00-17:30. There will also be a Post Office serving point which sits alongside the retail counter, offering selected services outside main counter times on Monday to Saturday 07:00-09:00 & 17:30-22:00 and Sunday 08:00-22:00.
This is an extra 58 hours a week including all-day Sunday and Saturday afternoon.
Will Russell Post Office Regional Manager, said:
“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the community will meet customer needs.
“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future. The investment marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
The date of the move is set to be confirmed soon, although it is hoped the branch will open later this summer.
