Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team have been called to reports of persons potentially in distress off Ventnor this afternoon (Saturday).
The alarm was raised at just gone 14:00 when members of the public spotted persons waving for help from a vessel.
The independent lifeboat is currently situated off the South Wight coast near St Lawrence, with Coastguard Rescue Officers on the shore.
