A care home in Sandown has received recognition in 2 major categories at a national awards ceremony celebrating excellence across the Greensleeves Care network.
The Briars, which provides residential and dementia care on the Isle of Wight, was named Highly Commended in the ‘Home of the Year’ category at the 2025 Greensleeves Care Awards.
The awards recognise outstanding work across the not-for-profit group’s care homes in England, with over 300 nominations submitted this year.
In addition to the home’s recognition, care professional Peter Zhanje was named ‘Care Professional of the Year’ for his contribution to resident wellbeing and his approach to care.
Peter was praised in his nomination for his dedication and ability to make residents feel valued. A supporting statement read:
“He will make sure the resident feels like they are the most important person in the room. He is one of the naturally happiest people I have ever met.”
Lesley Shaw, Home Manager, has said:
“We are over the moon to receive national recognition in two categories. To be named Highly Commended as Home of the Year and have our care talent recognised is a huge testament to the commitment of our whole community.”
The island needs more carer professionals like
Peter.
Well done Peter great to know know people are in
